tdb Software Service GmbH is a prominent German authority center for modular database applications.
The company tdb was founded in 1987 by Hermann Goetz and established itself in the Middle Franconian Schwabach. It consists of a team of nine database specialists, some of them with 20 years of professional experience in this domain.
tdb exists for over 20 years...
For 20 years tdb Software Service GmbH manufactures database development tools for software developers. The database components of the well-known programmer tools Delphi and Kylix are finally also based on the database engine tdbengine.
The project TurboDatenbank "tdb" was developed in 1985 within the editorial department CHIP of the Vogel publishing house in Würzburg in co-operation with the company Borland, which developed the programming language TurboPascal.
tdb means...
"tdb" stands for Turbodatenbank and resulted from the fusion of the two terms "TurboPascal" and "Datenbank". From the very beginning tdb was created as an open source project, which was considered as a large innovation at that time:
The source code was free and accessible for everyone. Today this open source thought became generally accepted by the rank and file of IT users.
tdb doens't have to cheat...
tdbengine gets along without any foreign tools. It contains besides the database engine, CGI interpreter and compiler all tools one needs for creation and administration of a database as well as an editor for module development. The installation on the web server (either Apache under Linux/Windows or Internet Information Server (IIS) from Microsoft) is a matter of minutes.
tdb speaks 18 languages...
Thus the company tdb has not only a rich experience with the production of customer applications but also a deep technical understanding, since not only final applications are developed, but also the complete underlying database engine.
We have already realized multilingual web applications in 18 languages, even in more difficult languages such as Arab or Russian.
tdb is all-around...
"tdb" is today the oldest still existent open source project in Germany. Whenever an address in the internet shows the ending .prg, tdb is behind it. The enterprise coordinates and maintains the meanwhile world-wide open source database tdbengine (www.tdbengine.org) and administers the source code.
